Transport Canada Advanced pilot

Founder Mike Brun holds a Transport Canada Advanced drone pilot certificate; every flight is flown by an Advanced-certified pilot.

  • Registered aircraft · airspace handled

Our aircraft are registered with Transport Canada. In controlled airspace — around London International (CYXU), for example — we request NAV CANADA authorization through NAV Drone before the flight, and apply for a Special Flight Operations Certificate (SFOC) when a job needs one.

  • Insured

Insured, with a certificate of insurance on request.

  • Free weather reschedules

Whether a flight is safe and legal is always the pilot’s call, under Transport Canada rules. If wind, rain or snow would make a flight unsafe, we move it to the next workable day at no charge.

  • Samples on request

Ask for a sample of the deliverable you need — an inspection PDF, a land film, a map — before you book.

What we don’t do

Saying no to the wrong job is part of doing the right one safely.

  • No flights beyond visual line of sight

BVLOS work needs a Level 1 Complex pilot certificate and an operator certificate (RPOC) for the company. We fly within sight.

  • No advertised public events without an SFOC

Transport Canada requires a Special Flight Operations Certificate for any drone at an advertised event.

  • No legal surveys

Maps, models and lot-line overlays are not surveys. Boundaries in Ontario are set by an Ontario Land Surveyor.

  • No engineering or insurance opinions

Inspections are visual documentation. A qualified roofer, engineer or adjuster interprets them.

  • No thermal imaging or crop spraying

Neither is offered at the moment.

Before you book

Straight answers.

Are you licensed to fly drones commercially in Ontario?

Yes. Founder Mike Brun holds a Transport Canada Advanced drone pilot certificate; every flight is flown by an Advanced-certified pilot. Transport Canada requires a drone pilot certificate for any drone of 250 g or more, and an Advanced certificate to fly in controlled airspace or close to people who aren’t part of the flight.

Can you fly near an airport or downtown?

Usually, yes. London International (CYXU) is surrounded by controlled airspace, and so are Toronto Pearson and Billy Bishop. Flights there need an Advanced pilot and NAV CANADA authorization through NAV Drone. Some requests are approved automatically; a manual review can take about a week, sometimes two, so we build that into your date. We never promise an approval before NAV CANADA gives it.

Are you insured?

Insured, with a certificate of insurance on request. Ask for it when you request your quote.

How much does drone work cost?

Drone-only jobs get a fixed quote within 1 business day. The price depends on the site size, what you need delivered, the airspace and the travel. For listings: drone photos included in Listing Launch & Premiere, or +$75 on MLS Ready and Market Ready (5–8 edited aerial photos). Construction progress visits start at $425 a visit.

What happens if the weather is bad?

We move the flight to the next workable day at no charge. Steady wind above about 30 km/h, rain, snow or poor visibility usually means we wait. Whether a flight is safe and legal is always the pilot’s call, under Transport Canada rules.

Who owns the photos and video?

The licence is written on your quote. Construction progress clients own every file. Listing aerials are licensed for marketing the listing they were taken for.

Can you fly at our event?

At a private, non-advertised gathering, often yes. A drone of any size at an advertised public event needs a Special Flight Operations Certificate (SFOC) from Transport Canada, which takes time to obtain, so talk to us before the event is announced.

Is there anything you don’t do?

We don’t fly beyond visual line of sight (that needs a Level 1 Complex certificate and an operator certificate), we don’t fly advertised public events without an SFOC, and we don’t offer legal surveys, engineering or insurance opinions, thermal imaging or crop spraying.
